On Sept. 14, two 30-year-old men, Jason Duffy and Hassan Ward, were shot and killed at the Oscar Miles housing complex. The killings occurred shortly before 3 p.m. 

On Oct. 28, 27-year-old Avent Holston was fatally shot in the 300 block of West Kinney Street. The shooting occurred around 7 p.m. 

The cases are unrelated, authorities said. 

Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating all three of these fatal shootings.
